Week 28 & 29- Final Interactions

Updated: Jun 15, 2020

Starting out with the interactions of the app, we all started to collaborate on XD. We decided on the visual language as well as the logo for our project. We decided to name our project 'Slice' as our board resembled a pizza slice.

Meanwhile, I was still struggling with the coding. When we spoke to the CTL, they told us that this would have to be Machine learning and we simply did not have enough time to do that. They suggested I make a proof of concept with hard coding which was equally difficult for me. I built a basic knowledge base of p5 as well as java script and finally managed to crack the code.

We chose to do interactions in the app which made the board look prominent and interesting. We also added a feature of digitally building a board if one has no access to the physical one.

Use case 1-

Nancy has been tracking herself for a week on her physical map and wants to upload her board.

Use case 2-

Amber is away from her home for a week so cannot track herself on her physical board and decides to use a digital board.

Use case 3-

X has been tracking themself for a few months. They get to know that they have been infected with the virus. They now want to share their board on the community platform.

Use case 4-

Y has been to the market and wants to check if he has crossed anyone infected there.

We decided on the color palette and the style of the components. We prototyped the entire app in XD so we could test it on users. We iterated few screens after validation.

Here is the link to the prototype-

We also made a small video to show the process of our design.

Feedback

We presented our idea to Steph and the rest of the cohort. Steph really liked the project and said that it was brave to tackle the brief head on. As it was not an easy brief, she thought we did a good job.

In terms of visual design, she encouraged us to think of the community platform and how to make it more understandable.

Takeaways

The brief was really interesting to work with, and I was glad that we had a good feedback. The learnings from this outcome were definitely engaging with the mix of physical and digital products.

It would be good to look at the same project as a macro brief and speculate an outcome as scale mattered a lot in this project.
